Socks that Rock Lightweight in Little Bunny Foo Foo. I do not like the pooling that occurs with STR. I won’t be using STR for socks anymore unless someone can tell me:
1. a colorway in which this does not happen
2. how to knit socks with STR in a special, magical way that stops this from happening:
I’ll wear them of course, but I’m not thrilled with how badly these have pooled. I’m really disappointed. Any tips or tricks?

You know, I have no idea. I was lucky with the one pair that I knit with STR and they made perfect spirals. I have not been so lucky with other yarns and have been known to rip several times and play with stitch numbers and needle sizes to beat them into submission.
I used this same colorway for a pair of Monkeys. I definitely got some pooling on the feet, but I got stripes on the legs. I think it’s a matter of stitch count, actually, though I don’t know what the magic number is.
60 sts around the foot. always works for me. anything too much over or under that and i notice tons of pooling. that’s my trick w/the lightweight anyway.
But what if people have big feet? I am doing toe-up, so I increased up to 72 sts. I probably could have done 68 or 70, but not fewer. And if I go up in needle size, the fabric will be loose. I sound whiny and I’m really not whining.
I’m just wondering what big-feeted people do?
Hmmm at least the pooling is matching
.
What big-footed peeps do is play around with the yarn starting point and see what happens…cuz even little feeted people have complained about pooling in my various blog-readings.
There is also the extreme of dividing up your yarn into four different balls and alternating every few rows. That sounds like an awful lot of work though.
