For the last year I’ve been getting these e-mails about Barack Obama. Not one of them have been positive. Ironically, not one of them have been factual or complete either. These anti-Obama e-mails range from the religious (“Obama is the anti-Christ,” “Obama is a Muslim”) to pseudo-political (“Obama will tax the hell out of you”).
Please stop.
One e-mail that was sent to me very early on was the one where Obama was accused of never putting his hand over his heart when the anthem is being played or the pledge is being recited, oh, and that he was sworn into the office of senator with the Koran and not the Bible. There was a link at the bottom, something like, “Don’t believe it? Check it out on Snopes.com!” and even provided a link to Snopes. So I did. And when I typed in the topic and the page loaded, I saw: FALSE. None of it was verified or true.
Seriously, please stop.
I recently got an e-mail that claimed Barack Obama said horrible things about the Bible and about Bible reading Americans. I watched the video which was clearly spliced and very, very short. I was not moved to suddenly distrust Obama. Well, no more than I already do considering he is a politician – just like that other guy, McCain.
I’m more than happy to read factual, tampered-free information about the candidates. In fact – if you’ve got links to good, reliable, factual, non-partisan, non-religious fact sheets about either candidate – throw it my way. But if you’re going to send me e-mails with half-truths and no links to prove what your e-mail is claiming, then I’m going to throw it out and instead of thinking less of the candidate…because, come on, you’re smarter than that. And I’m smarter than that. Let’s not lower ourselves to the politicians’ level, okay?
I don’t know who I’m going to vote for yet. I thought I knew during the primaries, but the primaries didn’t go my way. And no, I was not a Hillary supporter. To be real honest, I highly doubt it really matters who little old me is going to vote for anyway. I’m still going to do it because it’s my duty as an American. And I still don’t know who I’m going to mark down as my candidate of choice. But I usually fight for the underdog in any given situation, so if you really don’t want Obama in the White House come January, you might want to stop sending me hate mail about him.

All of the hate mail etc about Obama makes me wonder what “they” did and could have done back in the day of JFK. I meant leading up to his election into the white house. Of course we now know what happened to him, but not “how” or who did it to him. I don’t want to start any conspiracy theory chats here either.
I beleive there is a large machine in action to discredit Obama,, in any way that can be imagined. Bigger than any of us can fathom. This will be a crazy moment in our country’s political time line. BTW,,,This was not a paid political announcement.
What gets me the most is that politicians spend so much time talking about how horrible the other guy is. Why not talk about the good stuff they’re going to do if elected?
In any case, no matter who you vote for, please do make sure that you vote! It’s your constitutional duty, not to mention an amazing privilege.
Preach it, Tana! Seriously, it’s ridiculous.
Ugh! This post is so timely for me. I was just sent an email today that was basically a fear-mongering link saying Joe Biden supports Iran nuclear efforts. And as you said, come on people! Think! All I had to do was type in “Biden isreal” in Google news, and several stories were readily available about Biden’s support of Israel and articles already discrediting this false story.
Think people!
