We went camping over the Memorial Day weekend at a great campsite called Jim Creek. It’s owned by the Navy and open to retired military, active duty military, and DoD employees. The drive into the grounds was so beautiful and we were very lucky to have great weather. It didn’t rain till Sunday evening so Monday morning was a little wet but we were leaving anyway. Saturday and Sunday were sunny with perfect temperatures. We were surprised at how empty the campsite was – I’d say about 1/3 of the sites were full so it felt like we had the place to ourselves for the most part. We brought the dogs and they were good little campers too. I would have pictures, but I didn’t bring my camera because our friends were bringing theirs and I thought I’d just ask for them to email me theirs once they got home. But then my husband and my friend’s husband went fishing and while they were out on the lake, the boat tipped and into the lake went the camera. That was no good. I felt so badly for him. So no pictures for you!
It’s taken me a few days to get back into the groove of things because what I thought were mosquito bites on my ankles and feet (ten total), I now think are mosquito bites mixed with spider bites. My ankles and feet were completely swollen and sore yesterday. I could barely walk and the itching was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I woke up at 2am from the itching and pain. I could feel the bites in my joints. It still hurts today and both ankles and feet are swollen, though not as badly as yesterday. I was going to take a picture of it, but then I thought, “That’s gross.”
When we came home Monday, we knew we had to unload the truck and get it cleaned out because we had to drop it off at the auto-body shop. I don’t think I wrote about this yet, because it was kind of a sore subject for a while, but a few weeks back, we were trying to back the boat into its space in front of the house, and the boat came off the hitch and dove straight into the tailgate of the truck. Oops! It was no one’s fault, but still stressful. We were going to try to pay for it from our savings but the estimate came out to be a bit higher than we thought it might be. No biggie, we’ll use our insurance. That’s what it’s for! But then we were leaving to take the truck in and the garage door broke, as in needs-to-be-replaced broke.
It’s been an expensive few months.
Now I’m off to finally take care of that laundry and the bathrooms!
