DH is away on a deep sea fishing trip with two of his buddies on his new (new to us) boat. He was so excited about it this morning - he was like a little kid. It’s nice to see him enjoy something so much.
So I’m left here alone in this house on a weekend with weather of which we have been long overdue. It’s sunny. There’s a slight breeze. Things are green and shooting upwards toward the sun. The dogs are finding the sunny patches of carpet where the light comes through the skylights and are drunkenly napping.
And I am steam cleaning the carpets.
Here’s the thing about when the sun suddenly shines into your house - you see all sorts of stains and dirt and cobwebs. Where the day before you would have eaten off your kitchen floor for say, ten bucks, today you would retch at the idea. You don’t even like the idea of your bare feet hitting that linoleum. The dogs have been not always so good about using their doggy door when they have to potty. I mean, here we’ve cut a hole in our house so that they can access the grass and freedom of the outdoors any ole’ time they please and instead they decide that peeing in the hallway is a much better option.
I had to start penning them in the kitchen when I left for work in the morning because of this. But still, the damage has been done. And this morning I spent three hours slooooooowwwwlllly going over the carpet with our new Bissell Pro-Heat Turbo Steam Carpet Cleaner. (Thank you Dubya). And it works, if you go slowly. And my carpet will not be soaking wet. It needs drying time, but it should be dry by this evening. It’s supposed to be 85 today. 85 people!
Get ready for some pretty boring pictures, because I am excited enough about the carpet and the pantry to take pictures. Yes, pantry pictures too! It’s so great. I finally took everything out of the pantry, checked expiration dates, noted how many of each item I had in stock on my new and improved grocery list/inventory, and put it back in a kind of order that I am sure only makes sense to me. And then I told DH to never touch the pantry again. To which he replied, “Oh, here we go.”
And then, look, see? Can you see it? Can you see where he put a few things away?

That’s right! Mustard and mayo just haphazardly thrown in there with no regard. The things I put up with. (I hope it’s coming across that I’m being sarcastic. My husband is actually quite great).

I wish I had taken a before shot. This would mean more if I had. Man, how many times has that phrase been uttered?
Tomorrow: my version of gardening.

I’m totally with you on the pantry thing, and I have 2 kids which just compunds the problem.
I’m laughing my butt off! I have the same carpet cleaner you have! It’s cool to have one of your very own, huh? AND I think your walls are the same color as my guest room! Srsly!
I love the pantry. Killin’ me!
